recommended authoring system for MC 5

Can anyone recommend a current authoring system compatable with MC5 projects and works on Windows 7?  I used to use Roxio DVDit pro HD for all exporting from MC5 until I upgraded to windows 7.  Now DVDit pro HD hangs up and will not complete a project.  I have tried Cyberlink Power Director, and Roxio 2012 pro with poor results.  Roxio does not plan to upgrade their DVDit pro HD to work on Windows 7.  Avid DVDit pro also will not work on windows 7 without handing up.  Help.

Avid to Resolve – “Timecode extents doesn’t match”

Avid to Resolve – “Timecode extents doesn’t match”

Hi there,

Working on nailing down the workflow for going from MC to Resolve and back. I've got a tapeless job that has been transcoded to MXF for editing speed. I export an .AAF from MC, consolidating the media to a new drive and linking to those new files in the .AAF

Going into Resolve, the AAF is imported, but for almost every clip, the error message appearss:

"The clip "" can't be linkg to the media file "(mxf file name goes here)" because the timecode extents doesn't match.

I've tried a slew of configuration options both in creating the .AAF as well as adjusting Resolve settings, trying to get something to work. I've scoured the internet, and have found others with this same issue, but have not found any resolution.

Anyone have any thoughts?

For what it's worth, I can see all of the clips in the master timeline scroll bar at the bottom of the conform window, but only a couple of the clips show up in the track layer window (I'd say about 3 out of 100 in my test file).

Is it an Avid setting I'm missing, or a Resolve issue?

Thanks for any input.

MC6 Pan & Zoom with Windows 7 Ultimate

I have installed MC 6 on two different workstations (based on different HW platforms). Both workstations run under W7 Ultimate. In both workstations Pan & Zoom does not work. Has anyone successfully used Pan & Zoom in a Windows 7 Ultimate based workstation?

a JVC 720 50p capture issue

I try to capture in MC from JVC GY HD 201 camcorder tapes recorded in 720 50 p format, and suddenly it stops with the message: Capture aborted due to the lack of progress. I think there's a problem with capturing audio, because when I tried to disable audio it works. Have anybody with the JVC cams had the same problems?

How to get titels an old look?

Hello there all!

I working on  a film, that starts with the title of the year – 1993.

I want the scratches, and damaged look of the title (I tried to play with the opacity of the title – with no success), and to put a "Film damage Effect (From the "NewBlue Film Effects") which reminds Boris fx, and it changed the colors of the title to black, and the frame turned white! (I tried to edit the title the opposite way, so the effect will change it to the right colors, but it didnt worked as I suspected).

I'll be glad to have some help here. Thank you guys!

Pandora’s Box

I have had the same thread at Liquid's forums where everyone can post his favorite freeware applications that can help others too.

Those are for PC only as I don't use a Mac.

CCleaner.

It is a multi cleaning tool that you can have at the recycle bin and use it by right click.

It has a registry cleaner as well. Excellent for me.

You could stick it or we can just finding it by the search tool.

MC6 and Ethernet attached clients not supported?

Hi everyone,

We have a Unity Media Network that is attached to 4 ethernet clients. Currently we have 2 MC5.5 and 2 MC4. All of them are working fine. We would like to upgrade to MC6, however, when I was reading the pdf file for MC6, it said that "There is no support for ethernet attached clients in a MediaNetwork environment." on page 19. IS it true that MC5.5 is the end of the road for ethernet attached clients? Will Avid stop supporting this environment? One problem is that the 2 MC4s we have are on imacs and if we upgrade to fibre channels, then we'll have to change the workstations as well. Which will be unreasonable because these computers are mainly used for preview and digitizing only. Can someone confirm this to us? Thank you in advance!
