Transition affects underlying layers

Transition affects underlying layers
New to Media Composer…
I have a title made with the Title Tool sitting in a the layer above the main video (V1) layer. When I add a fade in and fade out transition to the title layer, it also affects the underlying V1 layer.
How do I prevent this?
Advanced Keyframe feature change?
Hi all, I swore in MC 5.0 when creating Advanced Keyframes it was possible to Spline some keyframes in an effect attribute while leaving others at Linear.
It seems now in MC 5.5 its all or nothing. Changing a keyframe on one attribute seems to change all the keyframes throughout that same attribute. For example, ramping scaled text. I swore I could spline from 400 to 100% then from there linear to 90%…
Why can't keyframes within an attribute have different behaviors?
