What’s the “DV” deal..

Ok, I've read the post about Windows7 and MC5 not supporting my Canopus 100. But what's up with older DV cameras? Are they not supported as well? I've tried a couple of Sony DV cameras with no luck. I rolled back the driver to Legacy, did not work. Squeeze will capture, but MC will not. I did'nt have this issue with XP.
