how to determine whether there’s AMA media on the timeline / long wait before playback starts

out of the blue at the start of a day on a large project suddenly mc5 takes 30 seconds before it starts playing back after i hit the spacebar.

having dealt with a project with monster-length AMA-audio in the past i suspect that this is caused by some audio on the timeline being relinked back to its AMA-source.

temporary workaround was to kill two audio tracks that would be the likeliest culprit. but this obviously will cause trouble down the line as i may have to frame-match the audio back clip by clip.

is there a way of determining what, if any, clips on a given sequence are AMA, not native mxf media? the sequence is so long that checking it clip by clip is just not a viable option.

or – other suggestions for the reason of the long playback wait?

Brand new Mac – 8 or 12 core??

Hi there

Urgently need help with this decision.

I'm replacing my dell precision 670(!) and going over to Mac.

Will be starting it on v5.5 but. Know 6 is coming.

My reseller says 12 core necessary, Apple say 8 core will do the job.

Im a doc offline editor so don't need super fancy effects stuff, just need to be up to date.

Any thoughts GREATLY appreciated!

Many thanks.
