Batch import from multiple locations

Batch import from multiple locations

Sometimes I need to import some large QTs (65GB+) overnight which are in multiple locations on different external drives.  The only way I can import them all at the same time right now is to get them in the same directory.  I might not want to move them, and if they are on different drives it can take a long time to copy them onto the same one, assuming there is even room.

I know that AMA > Transcode is better, but sometimes a AMA'd QT refuses to transcode, and for AVCHD it's not an option.

I would like to set up a batch import of clips from different places, and be able to choose different import settings, resolutions, and destination drives for each one.

At the same time, it would be nice to have batch exporting as well, with the ability to determine file names, settings, and destinations.  Even if I am exporting a bunch of clips overnight to the same location, it can get hung up on a Save As dialog.  A clip name might get truncated resulting in a filename that is identical to one that is already there and I'll come in the next morning to find hours of exporting hasn't been completed.

Put multichannel in the bin menu

I would like an easy way to switch clips from mono to stereo and back.  Split All Tracks to Mono dosn't work properly for master clips.  It makes a copy of the clip, but does nothing else.  I understand that the function is meant for sequences, but I would like it to be smart enough that when applied to a master clip it will change it to mono without making a copy.

I would also like a Create MultiChannel function added to the menu to complement it.  It would do a simple grouping of 1-2 3-4 5-6 7-8.  If a different arrangement was needed, that could be done in Modify Clip.  I would map those commands to the keyboard so I could easily change a clip from stereo to mono if I needed to cut it into the mono portion of my timeline, or vice versa.

Even better would be the ability to do this with focus on the source monitor.  If I open a clip and it is 2-track mono, and I want it to be stereo, I would like to be able to hit SHIFT-M and cut it onto a stereo track without having to go back to the bin or into Modify Clip.
