Recording Academy Memphis Chapter Hosts Grammy GPS Seminar About Vinyl
On Saturday, April 16, 2011, experts in the field of creating vinyl recordings gathered in Memphis, Tenn., for a discussion and critical listening session designed to provide insight into the “lost” art of recording for vinyl. Moderated by Memphis-based engineer/producer and vinyl cutter Jeff Powell, the panel comprised Eric Astor, president/CEO of Furnace MFG (Furnace Record Pressing, Pallas USA, Record Industry USA); producer/engineer and founder of Ardent Studios John Fry; Masterdisk (New York City) mastering engineer and vinyl cutter Scott Hull; and mastering engineer/vinyl cutter Larry Nix. Presenting sponsors of the event included Ardent Studios, GC Pro and Record Store Day.

KMI Introduces KeyWorx Software for SoftStep 
KMI in Berkeley, Calif., announces KeyWorx, a software application for Mac or PC that is now bundled with the company’s SoftStep Multi-Touch foot controller ($289). KeyWorx is designed to increase efficiency and reduce RSI (repetitive stress injuries) by selecting programs, controlling the cursor, facilitating mouse clicks and sending out keystroke commands.
