MC5 Gripe List

there are so many individual threads flying around about things people dont like, do you think we try keep them all together?  otherwise how will the people that need to see them see them?  maybe Avid could even respond to some of these gripes as there seems to be hidden motive behind some of them (eg the interface button…  avid rep says its a temporary measure to the new "interface" thats coming)  Many of the things that have changed are just weird???

my two gripes for now…

no acceleration slider anymore in effects mode,  now its like a 15 click job to do the same thing that took one click

when i want to insert filler i have to first  deselect the third "stereo" track otherwise it auto creates a new stereo track

and right now i dont want any stereo tracks.

can’t relink to imported QT’s

hi,

received a huge and complex project that was edited somewhere else. media for that project is mixed xdcam (via AMA) and imported QTs. I got all MXF Mediafiles as well as the XDCAM-discs on HDD.

First problem was to open the project – got the message "AMA volume not mounted yet" which refuses to open the project since the XDCAM-discs are of course not under the same path then before… is there a way to avoid this behaviour??? I foresee this will be lots of trouble in the future when transferring projects that used AMA if one can't avoid that…!!!???

but ok, I accessed the project via "open bin" command inside a freshly created project, and once I established a new connection to the AMA-linked files they became "online" in the sequences/bins…

not so with all of the imported stuff! surely I have rebuild all databases and actually all the clips appear inside the mediatool but I can't establish the connection to the clips in the sequence/bins. they still remain "offline".

if dragging the clips from mediatool to a bin they are fine but still no relink to the sequence!

Any ideas???
