Mojo DX Active or passive PCI-e card

I notice that on the PC side there are 3 qualified PCI-e cards for connection to the Mojo DX box.

1 passive and 2 active ones.

I presume the passive unit is just a buffered output from the PCI-e motherboard slot so traffic is still handled by the CPU where as the active ones presumably have hardware on broad to offload traffic management?

But is there any preference in terms of performance between the 2 supported active cards and what sort of increase do they offer over the passive card?
