Re-Recording Mixer Craig Mann and Supervising Sound Editor Joe Dzuban create soundtrack for doc on hip hop’s A Tribe Called Quest
(Hollywood, California–August 24, 2011) Re-recording mixer Craig Mann recently teamed with Supervising Sound Editor Joe Dzuban at Todd-AO to complete the soundtrack for the new documentary Beats Rhymes & Life: The Travels of a Tribe Called Quest, an electrifying portrait of one of the most influential bands in the history of hip hop. The film follows band members Q-Tip, Phife Dawg, Ali Shaheed Muhammad and Jarobi from their childhood days in Queens, New York, through their rise to stardom, and ultimate break up in the late 90’s. Directed by Michael Rapaport and produced by Rival Pictures, Beats Rhymes & Life is currently in limited release from Sony Pictures Classics. From a sound perspective, Beats Rhymes & Life differs from most documentaries due to the prominence and importance of the music. The soundtrack weaves live recordings and album tracks together, not only as a way to showcase the group’s talent, but also to help tell the story.

Audio importing problem

Audio importing problem

Hello,

Does anyone have this kind of experience when importing files to MC 3.x?

I tried to import .mov or mpeg4 files to MC. Video imports perfectly but the audio is not importing. I manage to import same file to my MC 2.8 and no problems what so ever. The file that I am trying to import is OK, when I play it with Windows Media Player, or Nero or Quicktime-player.Sound is perfect. But when I import it to Avid Media Composer 3.x it is no longer there.

I have tried to import it either matte or A/V-clip. Does not help. I have checked all the audio import settings and tried different variations ( all the possible ones ). Does not help. There can not be a problem with the QuickTime-settings because the file is OK when playing it with other players also Qt-player. I have checked that audiochannels are not muted. Does not help.

When I import only audio for example from the CD everything is OK. When I capture material from the tape audio is OK.

But when importing file ( video+audio ) the audio is no longer there?

Can anyone please give me a helping hand?

All the best,

JaMa
