scaling the timeline

I always assign the arrow keys on my keyboard (up and down) with buttons that scale the timeline up and down, so I can quickly tap the keyboard and either "zoom in" on my timeline or "zoom out."

After a recent reinstallation, I can't for the life of me find the right command to put back onto my keyboard. I don't see the function/button to zoom in and out of the timeline anywhere in the functions when I call them up with Ctrl+3, nor when I peruse the menus.

Anyone remember what this function is called? Then maybe I can find it to assign it to my keyboard.

(Note scaling of the timeline in and out is achieved by using the scaling slider, but I have gotten very used to doing this by tapping the arrow key up and down on the keyboard to get a closer look–or a wider look–at my timeline, so I'd rather use my keyboard than use the slider…if I can onl find the darn function.)

Scale Bar

In liquid the scale bar setting was displayed. This was extremely helpful. Can this be activated?

Also can the range be altered. I used to get much more on the timeline.

By the way this is my first posting as a user of Media Composer

will Avid like GoPro HD camera files?

Hi there,

I'm thinking of getting the GoPro HD camera for something I'm shooting… seems like a nice little camera for certain situations.  I've learned (after some bad experiences with importing AVCHD; and yes, I know you can do it via AMA but I'm too old-fashioned for that) to ask about what kind of video format Avid will import nicely (AVCHD took forever).

On the GoPro site, they say the camera:

"records in MPEG4 (.mp4) files using h.264 compression"

Will these files import quickly and nicely into Avid?  Unless I'm wrong, my Canon XF100 uses this format, and its files import very quickly.

Thanks for any advice,

Malcolm
