Video Raid help

I have a new Avid video raid and am just about to connect it to my computer.

It is a RTR320 – 5 x 250GB with 1 Tb usable in raid 5.

I have been told that it can maintain about 135MB per second.

So therefore if I have a full HD timeline 1080 25fps and I have 2 layers of 1080 footage that my system will be able to play in real time without bogging down?

That is including dissolves and transparencies between both layers.

With my liquid 7.2 system I have Liquid on the OS, Media on M drive

and Render on R drive to free the system up

How do I set this MC5 system up?

Example: MC5 & OS on C drive

                Media on Avid RTR320

                Render on R drive

Thanks

3D workflow – REAL 3D

I'm building up an editing suite that will meet the requirements of a 3D production feature film. Now, when I look at the Avid Media composer stereoscopic workflow I don't seem to find anything for which you can use glasses to see the final image. It's either left/right, left and right on the same screen, interlaced etc.

Now, nothing of this really fits the needs for a real post workflow, I need to be able to output an image to a monitor (3D monitor) so that me and the director could (with glasses) see the image as it looks in the theatre (I'm also thinking of getting a projector with 3D support).

How do I output a real 3D image? And how do I assemble the material to enable real 3D within media composer? We are thinking of going with the Epic camera when it's out, so it's an R3D – 3D assembly – 3D offline viewing and EDL output for stereoscopic footage to post grading/effects/online.

James Cameron didn't edit in 3D when doing Avatar, but I believe we want that ability to really see the depth-editing impact. On the creative side it's a whole other game to edit stereoscopic.

Frustrated. Sorenson Squeeze to Avid DVD problems….

Ok.  So this is the issue.  I am transocding in Sorenson Squeeze.  I am using DVD NTSC 16X9_LG.  So then when I try to add it to Avid DVD by Sonic.  THis window pops up.  Now if I add it, it makes me transcode it again.  Now, if I use Adobe's Encore, it works like a charm.  But, I like Sonic more.  Anyone help….
